Caño Island & Osa Peninsula Adventure Tour, Day 1 – Students will have breakfast at the hotel at 7am. They will then be picked up and transported to Sierpe by private shuttle. They will then board boats to be given a guided tour of the estuaries and mangrove swamps of the southern Pacific Coast. Here they will see monkeys, crocodiles, sloths, toucans, scarlet macaws and other animals. Upon reaching the mouth of the river and the ocean, the students will continue on to Caño Island, or ‘Treasure Island’.

Caño Island is a national park and is located 20 miles off the mainland in pristine and clear blue water. The boats will unload the students and all provision onto the beach where a picnic lunch will be served. After lunch, students will go snorkeling in the nearby bays and coral reefs. The later part of the afternoon will be spent swimming and playing beach volleyball. At 4:30pm students will be transport to our campsite on the Osa Peninsula at Poor Man’s Paradise. Students will check into their bungalows and then have dinner and games until lights out at 10pm.

Sunday 6/26
Weekend Tours, Day 2 – Students will wake up early and have breakfast at the camp. They will then begin the rainforest jungle tour. Students will be able to experience the last low-lying primary rainforest in Central America. They will see more animals, monkeys, sloths, macaws and toucans. They will also be able to see trees over 200 ft tall, waterfalls and amazing forest canopies. Students will end up at a beautiful beach where they will be able to swim and have lunch. After lunch students will be picked up and taken back to Sierpe by boat.

In Sierpe there will be three shuttles waiting to take students to: Playa Dominical for the Surf camp, Turrialba for the Volunteer camp and back to San Jose and the Student Guesthouse. For those students ending their program, there will be a Farwell to Costa Rica Dinner near the airport.

Monday 6/27 (departing students only)
Students will be transported to the airport as their flight times dictate. A staff member will drive with them to the airport and see that they get checked into their flight and through to the correct gate. As students will be flying out at different times throughout day, there will also be a staff member remaining at the student guesthouse. If students fly out in the afternoon or evening, they will receive lunch.
